Creative Global Relief continues to look for ways to have the most impact to improve the lives of families in rural villages.
Often, women and girls must walk several kilometers to have their corn (maize) ground into a very fine flour. From this flour, they make "nsima" which is similar to very thick mashed potatoes but very bland. Nsima is their staple food and very often the only food they eat at any given meal. There is a high level of malnutrition, especially in children.
A maize mill is a real blessing to villages that do not have these facilities. For a donation of $5,000, you can change the lives of an entire village by providing a mill for them to grind the corn they grow. Also, income can be generated by grinding corn for neighboring villagers.
Having a maize mill significantly increases the quality of life for an entire village.
